How does UVC light sterilise?
The term ‘deep UV-C’ typically refers to light energy between 200nM and 280nM. This germicidal wavelength range has been proven in many scientific tests - and is used in widespread applications - to ‘kill’ up to 99.99% of viruses. In the case of Covid-19, research has shown that UV-C damages the genetic make-up of the virus’s cells, which makes them unable to reproduce and therefore incapable of spreading infection. The LED light used in the DOTHAMS box produces 275nM.
How safe is the DOTHAMS box?
UV-C light has been used to fight germs for more than a century. This box has been manufactured to an extremely high specification (unlike cheaper competitors) as safety is paramount to our brand. Our UV-C LED does not produce ozone or mercury; the box itself is made from rigid and tough High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) rather than more widely-used cheaper fabric versions.
To prevent accidental user exposure to the strong UV-C light, the DOTHAMS box features an automatic shut-off whenever the lid is opened.
Who are DOTHAMS?
We are a new lifestyle product brand from Gymworld Inc, a well-regarded South Korean business which has been operating in the play and education markets for 28 years. Gymworld are the owners of the global Magformers and Stick-O toys brands.
What does DOTHAMS mean?
The name DOTHAMS comes from the Korean word, ‘DothamDotham’ meaning “a child growing up well”, which also reflects our company philosophy.
When will the DOTHAMS box be available in the UK?
Pre-oders are being taken now. UK stock arrives in the country towards the end of January 2021.
What is the lifespan of the box?
It has been built to last with a Korean-made UV-C lighting unit. This quality light has over 100,000 hrs of life.
How can we be assured of the quality of the UVC LED?
Our UV-C Light has been made by Seoul Semiconductors. Their Quality Management Systems have been assessed and registered in the UK by NQA (certificate T 368/0) to IATF 16949:2016 standard. The Seoul Semiconductor Testing Lab carries IAS accreditation and complies to ISO/IEC Standard 17025:2017. Certification can be found here
